The choices for our family were always take him (her) or leave them with the dog kennel. Many hotels/motels, campgrounds etc. were not really pet friendly. And, the bother of sneaking them up the backstairs of the Holiday Inn was not the best thing to do.
Hotels and Campgrounds have become increasingly more open to guests bringing their pets along for the trip. It makes it so easy on the pet owners because they feel welcome with their pets being with them and in a place wheere they are not looked down on.
A large variety of hotels/motels, campgrounds exist that have facilities for your pets and actually welcome pet owners and their pets.
